3.7.19 Snow Report

Hey snow lovers! The Alaska Avalanche Information Center here with your weekly winter fun report thanks to ABC Motorhomes and Country Legends.

Warm temperatures and sunny days are helping to consolidate the snowpack across south central. This weekend look for mild temperatures and more new snow.

Forecasters have noted increased strength in the snowpack, however new snow can change that fast. Be extra alert when riding on south facing aspects or any area that gets lots of direct sunlight.

Skiing, fat biking and snowmobile trails across the Valley are reported to be groomed and in great condition.

Trails north on the Parks Highway around Big Lake, Nancy Lake, Petersville and Cantwell are open with ongoing grooming. Trails near Eureka Lodge, Lake Louise, and Glenallen are also open. Be alert for overflow. And thank the groomers!

As spring weather warms and snow begins to enter the melt-freeze cycle, be alert for avalanches and backcountry hazards. If you see a hazard, visit Alaska Snow dot org and share. Posting your observations helps to prevent injuries and save lives.

That’s it for this week. Before you head out to ride, visit dev.alaskasnow.org for current information so you can live to ride another day.
