A timely reminder

Happy Holidays!

Vacation days mean it’s time to get out and play. In light of recent snowfall followed by warm weather and melting, AAIC urges you to THINK SAFETY FIRST.

Pay close attention to Mother Nature, follow the weather forecast, and check the avalanche forecast and advisories in the the specific area you’ll be exploring. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of each member of your party carrying a beacon, probe and shovel, and practicing using those safety devices. Notify someone of where you’ll be traveling and your route. If you’re unsure of of the risk of avalanche, simply don’t take chances. Take a course and learn the skills you need to know or find an area to play that you know will be safe.

With these things in mind, you should be able to do the last and most important thing which is to have fun and enjoy your day.
