General Observations

Party of two skied "Dood" Ridge via the pipeline. Skied ~30-degree slope just north of the pipeline. The snow was slow but great weather!

Weather: Blue bird day, low teens, gentle breeze from S/SE

Two test pits were dug at 3,300 ft approximately 750 ft apart. A "creme brulee" crust was noted at the bottom of the slope but gave away to a soft crust/rime around 2,900 ft.

Test Pit 1

  • 0 – 25/30 cm sugary snow
  • At 25/30 cm is a <1 cm ice layer
  • 30 cm to 55 cm soft snow, with a thin soft crust/rime on top

Test Pit 2

  • 0 – 65/70 cm hard wind blown snow
  • At 65/70 cm is a <1cm ice layer
  • 70 – 105 cm soft snow with a thin soft crust/rime on top
