General Observations

Level 1 PWSC AIARE course with Sarah Carter.  We toured a few hundred feet up Moonlight Basin to about 2600′ above sea level. We observed very little wind effect. We did find 1cm wind skin in some areas with 1mm surface hoar and stellars on top.  With this new storm coming we’re curious to see if this surface hoar is strong enough to survive a load.  We confirmed that the wind did die down. We skied from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.  We noticed a slight inversion. At the parking lot, our trucks read -4 F and temps warmed as we gained elevation to maybe 10F.  We could see the beginning of the next front moving in from the south.
