General Observations

Transitional zone: Observed a very reactive wide spread 2 cm thick rain crust suspended over 3 cm of loose sugary facets. This thin rain crust is barely strong enough to support the last few days of +/- 30 cm of storm snow as it is resting on the faceted layer with poor bond interface with the deeper consolidated snow pack below. This tender top 36 cm of unstable snow is waiting for a trigger and could be more dangerous with additional snowfall in the next couple of days. This layer was present from 500ft.-2500ft.  Above 2500 rain crust was not present below new storm snow
