General Observations

Lutak Zone: 1600’/NW-aspect/Broken/Calm/5F. High and dry is the new norm? What happened to our endless refills?? Cold temperatures dominated the picture of traveling in the mountains today, with cracking wind slab on small exposed test slopes above 1500′. Found two weak layer interfaces in the upper snowpack that showed some degree of reactivity but were not propagating. My guess is more load, or slab stiffening could produce avalanche potential on those layers.  Surface snow was soft especially in the trees and is slowly breaking down into weak sugary crystals.
