General Observations

Lutak Zone: 2500’/N-aspect/Obscured/Calm/Snowing/21F. Reactive storm snow in the top 30cm of new deposits on slopes greater than 35 degrees. Underneath the fresh soft slab was a supportable wind pack that made for a smooth surface to run on. Detected a thin melt-freeze crust (maybe sun crust?) below the new snow. Used a probe to identify strong over weak layers at 1800′ down 85cm, 95cm and 165cm (MLK-day). The supportive wind slab under the new snow was strong and wasn’t immediately reactive to jumping on test slopes. It did sound more hallow in spots and was softer in certain areas. Total snow depth was over 400cm. Managed terrain below 30 degrees and anticipated the new snow sliding in any suspect pockets, or roll-over convexities.
