General Observations
Lutak Zone: Fields of surface hoar building on sheltered aspects between 1,500-3,000ft, especially in-and-around trees. Between 3,200-3,700 ft on exposed ridgelines experienced wumphing on 18-degree slopes, found an ice crust over faceted snow. Up to 4,600ft on N-aspect, the same hard ice crust held well bonded soft-to-dense powder to the surface. Areas of cross-loading and surface wind slab were fairly easy to identify and travel around. In steep isolated terrain, cold faceted snow and hard exposed rime ice will make a slick sliding slope with any forecasted snow deposits.
