General Observations
Chilkat Pass Zone: Noticed D1-2 R2 surface wind slab avalanches on steep walls above the glacier SE-E-NE-aspects 5,000-6,000′. Fresh 100′ wide pocket a few inches deep ran 800′ from 5,800 – 5,000′ over a ski track traverse on a 45-degree SE-aspect slope. Looked like it released on an old surface where Wednesday’s new snow had drifted by the NW wind and top loaded the slope. The sun was out in force earlier in the day, though the temperature remained well below freezing. Not sure the story on that slide, a different group had been in that area earlier during the day.
