General Observations
12/29- Benzene Alley up to 1300’/ north-west aspects/Clear+ calm
Collapsing-No
Shooting Cracks-No
Avalanches-Yes, observed multiple natural D1-2 wet loose slides originating from steep rocky areas from the recent warm up. No step downs observed.
Found a thin (~1/8th inch) rain crust at the surface from sea level up to where I topped out at 1300′. Snow underneath the crust was still dry. Snowpack was thin (2-3 feet) and has poor structure, but is in much better shape than what is found on Thompson pass and areas north. In a snow pit with a depth of 90 cms at 1200′ on a NW aspect stability tests produced propagation at the ground and down 2 feet. Full pit profile attached.
