General Observations

Catchers Mitt to Worthington Glacier up to 5500’/ SE-NE aspects/ Clear/ Light- Moderate wind with light-moderate snow transport.

Shooting Cracks: yes, only in isolated locations just below wind loaded terrain features

Collapsing: No

Avalanches: No

Found wind pressed surface snow on the Catchers Mitt approach that made the top 1 foot of snow slightly upside down, (slabby). Stability was good, other than a few isolated pockets of shallow (4-6 inch) reactive wind slabs on the lee side of terrain features. Upper bowl of Catchers Mitt became calm with a couple of unconsolidated inches of snow atop a previously hard wind affected surface. An old D1 avalanche was noted running ~600 feet into the bowl, that occurred sometime between 12/26 and 12/27. Surface Hoar was noted in the upper bowl up to the summit, up to 6 mm in size atop a 1 finger hard wind board. Protected snow was found on the north side of Catchers mitt with no signs of instability skiing slopes op to 38°.
