General Observations
12/20- Python and Cracked Ice Butresss up to 3000′. Clear/Calm/~5° F/NW-N aspects
Shooting Cracks- Yes
Collapsing- Yes
Avalanches-Yes
Skied in a similar area that I had on 12/19 (see observation) and attempted to move out into steeper terrain. Stepped back to less consequential terrain when I found that 3-4″ of new snow that fell the night of 12/19 was not bonded well to the underlying snow and was reactive. Shooting cracks running through the new snow were also stepping down to new/old interface from 12/15 in isolated locations, mostly over buried bushes. Direct, remote and natural triggered avalanches were all observed at this layer ~3″ deep. No step downs were observed skiing terrain up to 40 °.
