General Observations
12/11-Shovel (40.5 mile peak) up to 5000’/ W-N aspect/ calm+clear/ -15°F at valley floor, 0°F above 3000’/ ski pen 15-30cms.
Avalanches: No
Shooting Cracks: No
Collapsing: No
Found Surface Hoar 2-4mm below 3000′. Along the course of the tour hand shear test had moderate to hard results. Surface snow had no wind effect, skied slopes up to 45° with no signs of instability.
Pit results at 4000′ produced ECTN22 down 40 cms, this was the new snow/old snow interface. West aspect/ 30°/ HS-170cms.
