General Observations
RFS up to 3000′. 0° F, Calm, moderate snowfall. Collapsing: Yes Shooting crack: Yes, some radiating over 30′ through the new snow Avalanches: Yes, small avalanches within the new snow were easily initiated were the bed surface was smooth wind board on slopes steeper than 30°.
Found 4″ of low density snow that was very poorly bonded with old wind affected snow. New snow had very little cohesion, but still witnessed long shooting cracks. Also found 2-3 mm developed near surface facets with some chains just below the new snow.
Video below shows very sensitive new snow that easily releases on small terrain feature.
