General Observations

Skiing at 43 mile on a South aspect at 3500 feet found 3-4 inches of fresh snow.  The fresh snow was easily sluffing on slopes above 40 degrees and entraining the old snow and running a considerable distance.  The old snow that was being entrained consisted of near surface facets.

The fact that the snow was sluffing so easily and running considerable distances shows that the near surface facets that the new snow is sitting on has very little strength.  This will be a layer to watch as we get subsequent storms and have a cohesive slab on top of it
