Snowpack Observations
8mm surface hoar observed in openings below treeline. Treeline and up: some mild wind affect in some areas with about 4" of wind slab on top of soft pow. Protected areas had soft pow up top. Snowpit at 2,300ft: thick melt-freeze crust at the ground. Didn't really see facets underneath it, just all melt-freeze. That crust was about 5cm thick. Above that was all recent snow from 11/2, 60cm thick, ranging from 1F hardness at the bottom to fist hard at the top. Very right-side up and skied very nicely.
