General Observations

Avalanche season is definitely here. There’s multiple feet of recent snowpack above 3600ft. Strong south winds have built new storm slabs in wind loaded terrain. This photo was sent in to us yesterday 10/1 from the Transitional zone (Flower Mountain area). That’s a D2-D3 natural slide, north aspect, started near 4000ft. If you get out into the mountains, expect new storm snow to be unstable. Consequences of a slide are high this time of year, with many rocks to hit and a high chance of physical trauma.
