General Observations
Did some field work at the Ripinksy weather station, and went on to ski a few laps in the Ripinsky NE bowl near 2600ft. Temperature near +10C. Snow depths around 1.5 – 2m. Top 60-90cm of snow was newly isothermal, with a harder wet layer in the top 30cm that was actively whumphing and collapsing onto softer wet layers below. This whumphing was widespread and a strong indication that another wet slide cycle is imminent as soon as warmer temperatures make it up to higher elevations. A sign of things to come. Be expecting a new wet slide cycle this week as temperatures get hot up high.
