General Observations

Observations from Mumford's today: sketchy conditions with 30cm of new very wet and heavy snow (think cement) from last night, that is piled up over Sunday's new snow, which overlays a widespread buried facet layer roughly 60cm deep. Lots of whumphing, shooting cracks, and we even triggered a small slab on a test slope in the trees. It's touchy out there. Whiteout conditions above treeline, and heavy wind transport was ongoing on NW-N-NE aspects above treeline. There is a ton of wind loading on north aspects and they are very dangerous right now. See shooting cracks / whiteout photo.
More details on yesterday's avalanche will be added to the incident report on our Accidents page soon.
