General Observations

Avalanche conditions continue to be high across all aspects. The most current snowfall has added between 12-36″ on top of the previous unstable layer depending on elevation and wind loading. High winds have created wind slabs in most areas. We did not see any evidence of natural slides or avalanches, but did trigger a single small avalanche with a snowmachine on a convex slope of around 45 degrees. The slab on that eastern aspect (generally the windward aspect) was 12-18″ thick and lay on top of last week’s wind crust. In general, this slab is slightly more heavy and consolidated than last week’s unstable layer. Shooting cracks were observed nearly everywhere in the alpine terrain.
