Announcements

As winter begins to take hold and the snow line creeps down the mountains, our thoughts move from summer activities to recreating in the snow.  Before we venture out into the mountains, it is a good idea to check over our gear and skills to dust off the cobwebs.  Make sure that you have the basic avalanche safety gear and know how to use it. This includes a beacon, shovel and probe.

Change out the batteries on your beacon and practice!  Since many of us have not thought about avalanches in awhile, it is also a good idea to read books like Snow Sense by Doug Fesler and Jill Fredston or Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain by Bruce Tremper.

Regular avalanche forecasts will begin on December 1st.
