Weather

Our previous snowpack was well tested by heavy rain at all elevations. Last week light precipitation added up to over an inch of water, with the freezing line initially at 1500 feet before dropping to sea level by the end of the week. This translated into a foot of new snow above 1500 feet. A strong system now approaches.

Expect increasing precipitation, wind, and temperature. Models suggest 2 inches of water though Tuesday. East wind looks to become hurricane force, moving available snow towards western aspects. The freezing line will climb to our local peaks. This all will quickly increase the avalanche hazard tonight.
