HIGHWAY AVALANCHE HAZARD MODERATE

The hazard may increase Wednesday afternoon.

Weather

We’ve had a week of clear skies and fairly good snow stability. Increasing daylight has brought diurnal temperatures and sun crusts on southern aspects. Northerly winds have affected exposed slopes at tree line and above. Temperatures warmed Tuesday as the next weather event approaches.

Expect increasing precipitation with the freezing line climbing through Wednesday. Models suggest an inch or two of water into Thursday, potentially bringing a foot of heavy snow to sea level. Moderate wind will load western aspects. Avalanche activity should be expected. The hazard may increase Wednesday afternoon.
