Tuesday bought strong east wind and rain to our local peaks, followed by significant heavy snow in the upper mountains Wednesday into Thursday. Observations have been limited, though avalanche activity occurred. Temperatures and precipitation are decreasing, allowing snow stability to increase. While the hazard should decrease through Friday, backcountry users should still use extra caution in the upper mountains. More precipitation looks to arrive Saturday.
