Weather
Last Monday we received 3 feet of snow at tree line and above. Moderate to strong east wind loaded western aspects. Some medium to large avalanches occurred during the storm. Another 6 inches fell Wednesday night, quickly followed by strong northwest wind. This created isolated wind slabs. Winds are now calm, while diurnal temperatures fluctuate near freezing.
Expect benign weather through the week. This will slowly promote stability. Backcountry users should be wary of isolated wind slabs. Also, a persistent weak layer may linger under Monday’s event. This seems to have gone to sleep, though consequences should be noted.
