Weather

Over the last couple weeks, we’ve seen snow down to sea level and rain to our local peaks. The result has been a little ice and slush at sea level, 2 feet of dense snow at the top of the ski hill, and twice as much in the upper mountains.

Weather models continue to be inconsistent. However, expect a series of strong storms today through Tuesday. Snow will change over to rain tonight as the freezing line climbs above our local peaks. Precipitation will be heavy at times. Strong east wind will transport available snow to western aspects. Wet avalanche activity will probably occur in the upper mountains. Our shallow snow pack should keep activity from reaching lower elevations. Backcountry users should avoid cornices and steep wind loaded slopes above tree line.
