Weather

We received 2 inches of water Friday night through Sunday, with most of it arriving Saturday. The freezing line fluctuated between sea level and 2000 feet, while moderate to strong wind loaded western aspects. This eventually translated into a couple inches of new snow on slush at sea level and 2 feet of new snow in the upper mountains, with twice as much on wind loaded western aspects. Observations have been limited, though some avalanche activity occurred.

While lingering light snow tapers, another storm will follow Tuesday afternoon. Models suggest a half inch of water and the freezing line near sea level. Expect 4 to 6 inches of new snow, with wind loading western aspects. Depending on the details, the avalanche hazard may increase Tuesday evening through Wednesday. Backcountry users should heed caution around steep wind loaded slopes. Also, beware of tree wells and lack of base at lower elevations.
