The highway avalanche hazard is LOW.

The avalanche hazard may increase this weekend.

Weather

We received an inch of water Sunday night into Tuesday, with strong wind moving available snow towards western aspects. Warm temperatures brought the freezing line to the peaks. Some avalanche activity probably occurred, though observations have been limited. Another half inch of water arrived Wednesday, with the freezing line just above sea level. This probably translated into 6 inches of snow at tree line and above, while wind loaded western aspects.

We may see some scattered snow and rain through Saturday, though this should be light. Precipitation looks to get heavy Sunday. The avalanche hazard may increase then.
