Weather

Last Wednesday brought an inch of water with the freezing line around 1500 feet. This translated into 10 inches of snow at tree line and above. Moderate wind loaded western aspects. Some avalanche activity occurred Wednesday night into Thursday. Sporadic precipitation lingered through Friday, while the freezing line increased near our local peaks. Dry cooling conditions Saturday have since promoted snow stability.

Expect mostly dry weather to promote snow stability into Wednesday. We are now, however, at the spring equinox and daylight is gaining at the fastest rate of the year. Increasing solar radiation as well as daytime temperature are beginning to have effect on the snowpack. Backcountry users should use caution around avalanche terrain during the heat of the day. Otherwise, the avalanche hazard may increase Wednesday with forecasted precipitation.
