General Observations

Lutak Zone: 2800’/NW-aspect/Overcast then clearing/Calm, light N wind/23F/HS 320cm. Loose dry snow in the top 10cm on slopes greater than 35 degrees. Surface forms in the first photo include <1mm needles. The deeper snowpack was quiet and stability was overall good. Noticed settlement cracks around trees. Old crown lines on N-and-NW-aspects, likely deeper layers that ran during last week’s storm. Practiced safe travel technique by identifying potential hazards, communicating with the group, using spotters, exposing one person at a time to the slope, choosing safe spots to re-group and having an emergency plan.
