General Observations
Lutak Zone: 2000’/NW-aspect/calm/26F/6″ of new snow. Dug a test pit near the Ripinsky main trail. Sensitive test results were in the recent storm snow. Harder test results deeper down indicate some degree of strengthening. The 11/13 melt-freeze crust was present and visible but not reactive in tests at this location. A stiffer slab above this crust could produce different results, for instance a wind-slab. Keep a careful eye for slopes greater than 25 degrees, terrain traps, strong over weak layering, and any signs of instability: cracking, whumphing and natural avalanches.
